Being a new school, our College goes through a number of 'firsts'. On Wednesday 16 September, we had a special presentation of Santa Sophia Catholic College's Inaugural Principal's Gold Award. The first ever Gold Award recipient was Year 8 student, Erica Pisani.
Over the short two years that Erica has been a student at Santa Sophia, she has been recognised by her teachers as making consistent effort or achievement in demonstrating our College values of wisdom, faith, hope and love. She was awarded the Principal's Gold Award after earning 15 PBS4L Certificates. These Certificates are not easy to earn, as each teacher nominates only one or two students a fortnight to receive it. Once a student receives five certificates, they will earn a Principal's Bronze Award, 10 certificates earns a Principal's Silver Award and 15 certificates earns a Principal's Gold Award with a gold badge.
Erica was presented with the Principal's Gold Award Certificate as well as Gold Badge by Principal Mark De Vries in the presence of her parents, who couldn't be more proud. Erica's parents, Peter and Kylie, were also invited to pin the new gold badge on Erica's lapel for her to wear as a proud moment.
Following the ceremony, Erica and her parents were invited as special guests to an exclusive private morning tea with Mr De Vries.
