Santa Sophia acknowledges parents and carers as each student’s most influential, primary and essential educators.
We encourage parents to be actively involved in school life and work with us to ensure the best educational outcomes for your child.
Parents are also actively encouraged to attend school events such as sports carnivals, exhibitions and performance evenings.
The college has a number of initiatives designed to form partnerships with families to help support the academic growth of their children, including:
Student Learning and Work Samples
Parents/caregivers of students in the School of Curiosity (Kindergarten to Year 4) will receive weekly updates showcasing samples of their child’s work through the Seesaw App. For students in the School of Connect (Years 5–8) and the School of Challenge (Years 9–12), parents can access their child’s assigned work, submissions, and grades in real-time through the Canvas Learning Management System.
For a complete guide on how this works, in addition to help for parents around technology used at the college visit our Parent Support Hub.
Parent Education Network (PEN)
Aimed at giving parents a voice in our college and providing them with useful information to support their children, the PEN normally meets twice each term.
The first meeting is a general meeting open to all parents and carers. Prior to the meeting, parents are invited to complete a ‘Have Your Say’ survey to help inform the topics to be addressed by the Principal and the Heads of Schools.
Later in the term, we hold another PEN meeting open to all parents and carers where an expert speaker will be invited to address topics identified by parents.
Membership to "Happy Families" Portal
As part of our commitment to the wellbeing of our students and their families, all families at the College are offered a FREE premium "Happy Families" membership, providing access to an online portal filled with regularly updated videos, articles and webinars on various topics.
Resources are developed by parenting expert, Dr Justin Coulson, PhD. Families can also participate in LIVE webinars and Q and A sessions with Dr Coulson.
Events
During the year we have many opportunities for parents to be involved in school events such as carnivals, Masses and other celebrations.
We also offer parents the chance to take part in Facebook LIVE events. These focus on a variety of topics (digital technology, wellbeing and anxiety, helping with literacy and numeracy at home). Parents can join in LIVE and ask questions during the session or watch the replay. You can find previous sessions on our Facebook Page or our Youtube channel.

Volunteer and Contractor Training
We welcome the contribution volunteers make to the life of our school.
As part of our commitment to keeping students safe, all volunteers in schools are required to complete the building child safe communities undertaking form and child protection training module before volunteering. These checks reduce potential risk and forms part of our strategy to build child safe communities.
